Terry Stafford is in his third season as the head women's volleyball coach. Challenges are nothing unusual for Stafford, who built premiere high school programs at Golden Sierra, Bear River and Granite Bay. He led all three high schools to Sac-Joaquin section championships and was voted Coach of the Year by the Sacramento Bee in 1993 and 1999. In two years as head coach at WJU, he has transformed the Lady Warriors to a conference championship contender.
After 12 wins in the previous four years, Coach Stafford led the Lady Warriors to a 15-9 record in 2009. The Lady Warriors finished conference in a tie for second place with a 9-3 record. For his efforts, he earned the 2009 California Pacific Conference Coach of the Year Award. The Lady Warriors had five players selected for All-Conference Honors.
He has spent over three decades coaching high school girl's volleyball.
"Although I've really enjoyed coaching high school volleyball, I'm very excited about leading the WJU volleyball program," said Stafford, who lives in Auburn and is a faculty member at Granite Bay High. "With my faith and beliefs, a Christian setting like William Jessup is a comfortable fit for me not only as a coach but as an individual."
